Wanted to buy a reliable laptop as a gift

    Good brand (Dell/HP ?), with 17" screen.

    No gaming, just internet basically.

Is my best bet to look at the Dell offer thread, or does anyone know of other offers in brick & mortar ?

Bought 17'' Toshiba pentium dual core 2gig Ram, 160 gig hard drive, vista home premium this summer in Currys Enniskillen for 400 pounds or 470 euro. Even has a built in webcam. I saw an add on TV last week for a 15'' Toshiba for 350 pounds. They are a great machine. I'm sure you'd get something similar south of the border.
