What actor's would you like to see in other roles, and not the ones they usually play?

I would like to see Will Smith in more serious ones. He was fantastic in I Am Legend and the Pursuit of Happyness

Same thing with Will Ferrell. I really enjoyed him in Stranger than Fiction.

Like Seth Rogen in a Shakespeare?

I'd love to see John Turturro in another leading role. Really, the guy is far too good to me playing random side parts. Barton Fink is the only film that springs to mind with him as the lead, and it's incredible.

Nicholas Cage springs to mind. He played countless heroic characters in rubbishy action movies like the Rock, but he was brilliant in Moonstruck and Leaving Las Vegas.

Hard to pick but a few, but my three would be

The Rock: I'm a sucker for leave your mind at the door action flicks and his first couple I thought where fairly enjoyable

Al Pacino: So no more really, He needs to be in better films.

Val Kilmer: I think a very underratted actor as seen in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and felon a few more like them would be great

I would rather he became a postman so I never have to endure his tripe again......same goes for Nicolas Cage.

I'd like to see Sean Connery in more comedies - he has great timing and delivery.

In general, though, I'd like to see more actors tackling Shakespeare, and I don't mean just the tragedies. That way, we can see what they're really made of. I quite appreciated Kevin Kline and Calista Flockheart in A Midsummer Night's Dream, for example, and recently watched The Merchant Of Venice with Jeremy Irons and Joseph Fiennes, and Al Pacino riveting as Shylock. I have this idea for a remake of Julius Caesar set in the cocaine cartels of Columbia...

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

I'd love seen the kid from my family replace that awful Daniel fella as Harry Potter. Or anyone really. Ditto Ben Barnes playing Dorian Gray -???
Love to see Jack Nicholson play a role other than himself.
Love to see Jeremy Piven in more. Or Jake Gyllenhaal in a light role. There are a lot of great character actors out there too whose names I don't know, but are so underused!

Hugh Grant in a serious role

John C Reilly to do some more serious work after all the comedies he's done recently

Daniel Day Lewis to star in a Farrelly Brothers "gross out" style comedy

Robert Redford as a serial killer. (or paedo)

Alan Rickman as a falsetto singer. He could play one of the Gibb brothers.

Steve Carell was brilliant in Little Miss Sunshine, I wouldn't mind seeing him play more serious roles.

Try Death to Smoochy but add in dark to musical comedy. :)
