Hi, I'm looking for some sort of vocal fx unit. To be honest I really dont know much about this area (technology frightens me) so im wondering if anyone has any idea of fairly decent ones that

1 - not too complicated to use

2 - isnt gonna be ridiculously expensive

I'm not looking for anythin particularly elaborate either, just delay, reverb, some form of distortion and that mega-phone type sound (again - my complete ignorance on the subject coming through here again)

    Thanks for your help! :)

    hi alison,

is it for live stuff or recording that you need it for?

hey, it'll be for gigs. although i would want to be able to mess around with it at home (so i would be capable of using it properly while playing a gig) i'll be buying a small amp to use with my mic/fx unit, the problem is that any i have looked at seem to use phantom power... is there any way around this?

hey, have a look at the TC Helicon vocal fx unit

    http://www.tc-helicon.com/voicetonecreate.asp

dynamic mics wont need phantom power (shure sm58 etc) but if you have a mic that needs phantom power there are plenty of power units on the market at reasonable prices

    hope this helps.

The TC Electonics M350 has sweet reverb and delay effects and is cheap €130 but no distortion. You can by a small megaphone in Maplins in Blanchardstown for €45 and it looks and sounds way more rock n roll!!

but dunno bout getting the megaphone with the other one.... seems like a bit of a pain to get an fx unit but not actually having all the effects that i want!

not sure if it's any good, but Digitech did a vocal fx a while ago, the Vocal 300, I think it had distortion as well as other effects, delay/reverb etc.
    as far as I remember.

I imagine it's still available to buy.
