I've an old-ish Epox motherboard, with SATA. Had a SATA HDD in it years ago, but have been on IDE since.

Thinking of purchasing a SATA 2 HDD. Will it be accepted? Is it pointless buying it - should I just go for a SATA HDD?

    Thanks

A SATA II drive should fall back to SATA speeds when connected to a SATA controller.

Just get one of these " Samsung 1Tb F1 ", they are only ~100€.

I have 4 of them running perfect in my new system.

I've use two of them before via a standard SATA, then only difference with the transfer speed.
