After the debacle that was this, I went away and constructed a new website, based on some of the (helpful) advice I received here and have comeback with my new website.

Thanks to all who helped with the last one. It was ugly, but technically sound and got me a decent mark. This isn't due 'til after Crimbo, so if there's anything that I could use to spruce it up, let me know. I might even splodge out for a domain name, if it turns out well at the very end.

    Want come C&C on this?

The photos page is confusing. The images on the splash page do not indicate what they are linking to (I would suggest putting 'music', 'landscape' etc under the images) I thought you just had a gallery with three images when I first went in. Also, when in the gallery, I would arrange the links up the top in the same order as they appear on the splash page.

You need to improve the consistancy of the site. The homepage is one width, the gallery another width, and the contact page another width again.

On the homepage, link the phrase 'contact me' to your contact us page.

There are plenty of nice tasteful ways to display your images (for example : http://devkick.com/lab/galleria/demo_01.htm#img/mojave.jpg) this would enable you to spice your site up a little, without going overboard.

Overall, it's a nice tasteful, minimilist design. Nice job!

Good to hear you got a good mark :) Sorry about the harsh criticism in the other thread. No idea wtf I was at.. anyway..

This one looks _WAY_ better. I'm well impressed by the comparison :D It's nice, very easy to look at, black brings up your pictures quite nicely, easy to naviagate, and it's simple. I'd probably add an 'about me' page to stick most of the stuff about yourself in, and maybe an email contact form for the 'contact me' page, or maybe more details? That page looks very barren at the moment.

    Looks good, Well done :)

I want it, i want it, i want it.

Looks brilliant. Can i get this into my site? Is is hard to do?

Nahhh, I just implemented it for a client today. Send me a PM tonight and I'll talk you through it, it's actually really simple (Dodging work at the moment, so I don't really have time to go through it all now =))

Nice one oeb, il need to make a website first though. Only starting now, and have no experience.

@mehfesto2: can i suggest fully justifying your text. Would make it look better i think. And also, oeb is right about the consistency, the alignment of the pages is different.

I like it. Nice and simple. It would make sense to have the names of the Galleries more obvious ( roll over is all fun for getting grades but sometimes you need better indicators ).

    Good work!

Really like the quotes as well.

You can download it from here and theirs instructions for it on that page too. Looks fairly simple :)

This site looks a good bit nicer to your last one. It's plain and simple. One crit I would have is that their isn't much layout or a feel to the site. What were you going for/what's your main objective for the site? It does the trick though :)

    Well done!

I opened it up ... and I actually said tasty :) compared to the last one ...

still using tables ... fonts could be improved ... layout maybe improved a bit but overall a lot better than the previous effort :)

(if you got a good mark on your last one I'd still fail your lecturer) :D

i agree it is much tastier that the previous one.

i've nothing much to add here but in contact page if you could not list your email address as text, you don't want the spam robots harvest your email! :p

there are other ways doing it - replace the email text with graphic version or use ASCII format in your HTML codes.. google for other methods too.

Or just use a contact form. Let me know if you want me to knock together a bit of PHP to handle the backend of it for you.
