I was hoping to pick your brains. I'm off to the USA for Christmas and going to be joined by a cousin who is a head coach for track and XC with one of the good track universities over there. He was born in Ireland but moved as a young kid. I'd like to get him a small gift but as his coaching is really the only thing I know about him, I'm kinda stuck. Ideally something with an Irish connection as anything else, I'm sure he'll have already. I don't suppose anyone has written a book detailing all the successful Irish kids who went to the USA on scholarships or anything like that?

Eamonn Coghlan's new book could be an option, lots of reference to his days in college in the US. Also, maybe Sonia's new book.

Thanks Tingle, Sonia already bought for his Father (my uncle, a marathoner/ultramarathoner!). I was thinking Coughlan alright (great minds or fools?).

Dying to get my hands on that one, Id say its a great read.

Also really want to get this:

Joe Newton is apparently a pretty legendary coach on the track scene over there so it could be of interest.

P.S. Coughlans book would be a good idea too. A large part of the book is about the influence Jumbo Elliot and the coach he worked with over here (who's name eludes me) and he gives a lot of good insight into Jumbo Elliot as a coach.
