    Hi all,

I'm planning on hitting the continent for about 10 days later on in the month. I need a good back, but I'm not 100% sure what to get. What's a reasonably good capacity bag? I've seen a few good 30-40L, but I don't have much experiencing backpacking.

    Any recommendations??

how long is a piece of string?

what I found useful was one with a detachable day bag, a small backpack that unzips from the main one. Mine was pretty cute actually, you could zip a flap over the straps which not only stopped them getting caught in the airport baggage carousel, it also meant you could carry it into a hotel like a bag and not look like a backpacker (Handy if you haven't booked and want to sty somewhere nice).

40 litres is small though, I would say you would need at least 60.

These are the sort of things I am on about, don't know anything about this site though. http://www.outdoorgb.com/p/native_planet_landmark_70_rucksack/

im heading for a three month trip to tanzania in jan and all im bringing is a nice light 40 liter backpack. Believe me you'll regret it if you bring too much size...as i've done in the past.

    pack the very basics.
