Does anybody think that we should all meet up in downtown Dublin for a few drinks sometime. Because at the end of the day we all do share the same interest.

I think it would end up causing a fight tbh. Your best bet is try organise such before some WWE event or if another promotion is having a show in the next few months.

People must be retarded if they ended up in a fight at a bloody pro-wrestling meet up

It's a nice idea but it might be not the best time for it. Maybe when the board settles down a little bit, it could be something that might take off.

I would a couple of days in the middle of January before two particular events would actually work given how many people from the board will be up in Dublin for one or both events. Hell, we could even merge a boozeup with the MMA forum guys if they were up for it!

Basically have a pissup in Eamon Dorans prior to it. Why Dorans?
    1) it's a minute away from the bus stop to one event, and about a 20 minute walk from the other

    2) it's jukebox isn't half bad

    3) it has a couple of nice cornered off spots which work great for meets and finally

    4) it has a pretty cool little beer garden for smokers.

One could even hold one every few months, one being in Dublin with all the culchies coming down, then another somewhere in culchieville with the Dubs making a road trip up.
Theres my two cents worth anyway.

Was just about to mention this. if it does happen it should happen either the day of or the day before UFC 93, preferably near the national stadium

You should've locked him in the sharpshooter and then screwed him and told someone to ring the bell before he could escape.

Not a bad choice at all. A few wrestling theme tunes on the juke box too.

There aren't a lot of decent places near the Stadium, Harolds Cross whereas Dorans is across from a bus stop that's literally a 5 minute journey away from the place.

The idea popped into my head earlier on that if this does go down we'd have to go and no one would be able to say who they were.

Can you imagine if everyone knew who each other was?

Most likely everybody probably around probably Fozzy and/or Shawn talking. Rovert with a select few. And then most of them trying to avoid K-N-N, probably KKV and more than likely me. :o

(Only meant to be a bit of fun and im not pointing fun at anyone in particular)

To be honest, i've only met a handful of people from here, in fact i could probably count the amount of people from this forum that i have met on one hand. So I honestly doubt that would be the case.

Aww Shaun Dorans ?? ? you can do better then that. I would be up for it. I would rather do it for a PPV or somthing like that. Bars are doing that alot now. i was talking to 1 bar in particular who was interested in trying it out .

    *Butts in*

I've organised loads of boards beers by this stage, and being honest dorans has so far proved to be the best. You just get more breathing room on a weekend night there than anywhere else.

If you could get one for a ppv that would be awesome though, it'd be something different from what all the other fora are already doing.

Also I will be organising beers in Dorans in Jan anywho so maybe something different would be good.

As opposed to meeting fat, sweaty, spotty nerds who sit in their parents basement all day and night playing CounterStrike stuffing junk food down their throats?

    Good one kid, you're funny.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,632 ✭✭✭SuperWoody101

Sounds like a good idea and I hope it works out, If it is on the same weekend as UFC 93 then I will be in Dublin and if I have time I will call in for a drink (and some spot cream and junk food of course) as I am a wrestling fan. DRakE if you have no interest in going then don't post in this thread.

The Royal Rumble 2009 is on Jan 25th, how many people here would def be up for meeting up in Dublin for this?

Do bars in dublin usually stay open until that late?

The board is too angry at the moment. We should wait before having these get togethers in case somebody gets stabbed.

But the Kane epidemic is over? Were all good friends now :)

hell, did you not see what SR has said about some people on here?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 254 ✭✭JohnJericho

Right we should have a decent number. I know Dre is in talks with a bar and im in contact with an other bar which i have contacts with at the moment.

I reckon it would be a great night a few beers and the Rumble!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,238 ✭✭✭✭Diabhal Beag

Noobs like myself don't understand the importance of such occurences.

SR could be a rapist priest for all I know.

The rumble idea makes sense, as thie is lot of booze games to be had with that event. The only problem is many wolud have to write of monday though:o

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 254 ✭✭JohnJericho

The pre-show could begin at say 10:30 with a wrestling quiz of some sorts with spot prizes. We could also maybe organise some sort SDvRAW tournament!

    Free gaf

If this was actually to be done then an odd option could be.

everyone from outside dublin could book into the same dublin hotel on the night a PPV airs on sky sports, then sign the rest of us in as guests and we drink and watch in the residents bar which is open to residents at all hours.

Well yeah, I'd be all for a free gaf PPV. €22 divided by 10 people would be extremely cheap, well it'd make more sense if the house owner paid for it and the others just bought his beer and pizza. But Dray's talking about a bar here.

Unless you have a seriously big gaff that could be really crowded.

You don't need a huge gaff just a big screen and enough chairs although I doubt there's anyone here that'd invite strangers into their house for a whole night of drinking and wrestling. I know I wouldnt :pac:

The place will be locked but if it serves food it can stay open longer . I have already done this with other sports and i have a couple of places that would do it again depending on the numbers. We would have to pay but if we get solid numbers im sure it will work .

I know myself i can get a few friends to come.

The problem is people say that they are interested and not show up on the night . But right now lets get a provisional number of people ...........

    including myself is .......

    3
