Like the thread title says - What shops sell MANLY jumpers?

I can't find any decent jumpers for the past while; my criteria is fair and simple.
    • NO lambswool baby-blue or whatever, that feels as insubstantial and thin as a t-shirt with a delicate little collar.
    • NO Grandad jumpers, V-Neck, odd stripes and designs from the 1930's.
    • NO jumpers where fake white cotton t-shirt "parts" have been sewn into the neck etc - Hate that shíte!!!
    - All I want is a few heavy-ish real wool jumpers that are plain while looking well, think crew-neck look best.

Am in Limerick if you feel like offering location specific advice and all help is sincerely appreciated!!!

You could try Blarney Woollen Mills - don't know if they have a place in Limerick

Real men don't need to wear jumpers in cold weather.

Thanks for your reply Mark :)

Had a look on their website though; they only have 3 types of jumper and the prices are shocking!!!

This is their best @ $96.59 [.ie site is in Dollars by default!!!] - I don't think its MANLY enough though and it converts to €76.55

I recently had to wax my inch-thick, impenetrable back, chest, shoulder and arm hair - these jumpers are going to be a poor substitute :(

Debenhams, Marks & Sparks or Penneys & Dunnes.

If you want something more fashionable try Zara as they do a good basic range that aren't too thin etc. If bought for my dad & BF here are neither would be into any of the stuff you described. They do a lot of the thin ones but they normally have a table of Zara Basic knitwear of the less girly variety!

    Thanks Orlaithd -

Debenhams - Must drop in [?]
Penneys - Not sure either [?]
Dunnes - Either lambswool for sensitive types - or Grandad jumpers.
Zara - Last time was really, really poor chioce for MANLY men; maybe new stock though

Yea a lot of their fashion stuff isn't too manly alright but look for the stuff that say "Zara Basic" - I got my dad a heavy chunky wool jumper there- round neck, 100% wool- dark blue (had other colours too) they also had the finer ones too, sometimes they hide the heavier ones as I think they might be less popular. Most are around the €30-€40 mark too so not too bad.
As I said I bought for my dad so, I can safely say it was definately a manly jumper :)

    Try Tommy Hilfiger.

Simu I think if the OP complained about Blarney Woolen Mills prices then he may struggle with Tommy Hilfigers slightly inflated ones!

Truth be told if you find the right type/style/fit that you are looking for, €75 is not a huge amount of money to pay for a good quality, well made piece of knitwear.

If your open to ordering off the net try asos.com, ships within 3 to 4 days and returns are no problem. Plenty of discount codes floating about the net and a little more to be saved with the exchange rate.

Well. there might be some good bargains in the January sales! Cheap knitwear doesn't last, in my experience.

    Marks and Spencers OP.

Avoid the Autograph section if you can't deal with the skimpy knitwear, though. :D

Thanks for all the contributions so far - I have yet to try Tommy Hilfiger, Debenhams or Penneys, *Edit - Or Marks and Spencers [Cork is nearest @ 65 miles away] will try and get into town at lunchtime today.

Asos.com was interesting, but of the 999 jumpers in stock about 821 were pink/purple/turquoise lambswool jobs with v-necks down to the belly button - ya wouldn't push a stricken trawler of the wave-pounded rocks in a gale while wearing one of them :(

    - Any other suggestions would be very welcome so help please!!!!
