I always love seeing xmas lights up.

I'd like even more to see their ESB bill in January!!

Given that the cost of powering up all those lights might cost a little more this time around, you might see a few less lights around.
It will be a good (flashing!) indicator of the times!

Its an adopted American habit overdone for the sake of ego's, better than the Jones scenario.

Think of the environment - save the children... free Willy!

I think of the skit in The Portadown News when they ran a picture of a big gaff festooned with lights and the caption was Local Family in Lower Middle-Class Shock.

While outside lights are naff (in general. My aunt puts some lights in her trees outdoors, nice discrete white lights. Looks good. )

I do like to see a chrismas tree and the candle in the windows.

A neighbour in my sister's estate used to go all out for Christmas and gave the tips to charity. He gave up on it since it was so much work and the money box kept getting robbed.

Took a wrong turn in Edenderry this time a few years back.
Drove down some road and each house was worse than the last.

Classinc case of keeping up with the Joneseseses.

I'd probably put up some decorations if I had kids, but I don't, so meh.

I love driving around Dublin, checking out the crazy over the top lights on some of the houses. Driving round Dublin, especially Dolphins Barn and Cabra, and you see some complete insane 'Griswald family Christmas' jobs :D

To be honest I'm brutal for putting up the decorations even though I love them. Usually it's nearly Christmas Eve when I have them up. I don't know what it is but they always seems nicer at my parents house!

Haha, I was just thinking that! I drove through Cabra last week and saw two houses within 3 minutes of one another, a serious amount of lights up. It wasn't even December!

Haven't seen as many crazy amount of lights houses this year actually, though its early yet! Personally I find it more than a little tacky but each to their own and all that...
