Ok people, I'm off to Camden for the weekend.... and for many reasons I feel the need to get inked while I'm over there, just something small..... Basically need to commemorate some personal milestones....

So anyone been to Camden for ink? Can anyone recommend anywhere?

    hi :D

I've heard many good things about Into You tattoo in London itself (Farringdon), which is not to far from Camden - http://www.into-you.co.uk/contact.php

Ooo, I forgot about Evil From The Needle, in Camden itself

Evil from the needle is the only place I'd even step foot in. There's lots of shops on camden high street but any work I've seen from them is beyond dodge its a real scratchers paradise. Does it have to be in Camden as there is alot of very good artists in London.

I doubt any of those studios take walk ins. Most of their artists would be booked solidly till the new year if not longer. Most of the places by the stables market are sketchy but you can generally figure that out yourself from the vibe of the place. If I was you I'd contact the right studio (depending on what you want) and book in for another time and fly over then. It's only €20 to fly to London with Ryanair and hostels are cheap too.

Doesn't necessarily have to be Camden, but that's there we're staying and planning on spending most of our time.

If I don't get inked in London this weekend I'll prob just get whatever I decide on back here at some stage.

It's just that if I'm there, and have the cash on me and have the time/inclinaction, was just looking on some heads up about places to stay away from etc.

As everyone has said, avoid most of the tattooists in Camden like the plague (which you'll probably catch if you go to one). :D

Bugs at Evil From The Needle is a great artist, but he's always booked up weeks in advance, as are the guys from Into You (Xed Le Head is often booked up to 6 months in advance).

Lal Hardy in Muswell Hill is probably worth a shot - he's really good, has tattooed plenty of celebs too (including the likes of Keith Flint, etc) - http://www.newwavetattoo.co.uk - just a couple of tube stops from Camden.

If you get the chance to go south of the river, there's Andy Barber in New Malden (half-hour train ride from Waterloo) - he's excellent for colourful, traditional stuff ( http://www.andybarberstattoostudio.co.uk ) and I'll also recommend Vas at Skin Shock in Croydon for fantasy/biomech/custom stuff (15 minutes from Victoria or London Bridge - http://www.skinshock.co.uk ).

Cheers guys, will have to see how the weekend pans out.

I've booked my flight etc for the Manchester Convention in March, so if all else fails I'll just bring all my cash to that and come home covered :p

Was living over there all this summer and got a small tattoo done (my first and still only) at Evil For The Needle in Camden.

Really nice, clean place. Would recommend it. For piercings, Cold Steel have some really sound people working there. Stay the hell away from Eclipse, I think that's what it's called. Unpleasant experience.

Well, there was too much partying done to even consider getting inked.... so I just got my lobes streched up a little and bought some pretty new plugs and tunnels and other radom pieces of metal :D

I got my half sleeve done in Evil From The Needle, they are top notch. The tattoo was nominated for best male tattoo on this forum...I think I came 3rd?

there are three photos of it on post number 2573 and here is the link to that page http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=226952&page=172
