Best ES tv show?

    Again, a bit of levity;

What is the best tv emergency services show, be it police, fire or medical? Factual or fictional.

My personal favourite is a US show called Third Watch which follows the third watch (3pm to 11pm) of a fictional precinct of cops, firefighters and paramedics in New York. For those that haven't already checked it out, its well worth a look, and will raise a smile or two from serving types who'll recognise many of the scenarios portrayed.

As a bit of trivia, a number of actors that later featured on the equally excellent The Wire, first appeared on Third Watch....most notably Bunk, who played Candyman on TW.

That guy on the left is gonna have a sore thumb if he has to fire that thing...obviosuly still coming to terms with the changeover from revolvers...lol

The greatest show has to be The Bill back in the day... sadly, not any more...

i would be agreeing with you metman, third watch is a great show, i've been watching the wire a lot lately which is also great and how could we ever forget the shield. But i still think third watch is by and far the best of the lot.

third watch. Loved it. I only got into it at season 6 as i'd missed most of it. Having got the rest of it i've rewatch a billion times now. Brilliant show.

The bill a couple of years ago too before the gay cross dressing police man started going out with the drug addict prison escapee etc etc. Turned into a soap.

of course factually throw in street wars, road wars, cops and rookies (a new show that appeared and i haven't seen anything after the first 2 episodes, had real potential. )

Factual - Road Wars and Nightwatch.

    Fiction - The Wire.

Third Watch, but I have been meaning to watch The Wire.

Everything about Third Watch - Camelot, Sully being made of win and Bosco being made of awesome! Just a fantastic series that beats all of that CSI shoite!

Oh your bold! Would you steal a handbag? :P

Third watch was a great show, loved Bosco. I also liked the way it covered more than one ES but alas, the scheduling was a disaster for keeping up.

I used to love ER, don't get as much time anymore to watch them. I think Road Wars is very good though

All the characters on the show were very well written, Boscorelli and Sullivan being my favourites.

I watched the show before I joined the job, lost track of it during training and first couple of years on the beat, but picked it up again later on, and like Random, I've now seen all 6 series a hundred times over, as its easy viewing and very entertaining but also portrays the humour and tragedy of life in the job very well.

The part where Bosco decides to rob 2 muggers to teach them a lesson, pure genius!:D

Or when the slow lad nicks the patrol car and its a 5 mile an hour pursuit.

Anyone watch Boomtown at all? Short lived series but Season 1 was pretty good I thought.

can anybody remember a show, i think it was set in Philadelphia, which followed a young probationary officer in his first year as a cop. it was a fictional show....can't for the life of me remember the name.

Edit, found it, it was called "Ryan Caulfield: Year one"
