Turning on ESB

We are hoping to have our heating running to help dry out our plaster but the 2nd fix electrics won't be finished - is it possible to get the ESB turned on before all the wiring is complete?

A temp power source just so we can power the boiler?

If not then would a de-humidifier be a good option or will this dry out the plaster too quickly and possibly cause it to crack?

How long should the plaster be left to dry before fitting door frames etc?

You could ask the electrician to install "site electrics", we had a temporary board installed and used it for nearly two years.

I assume the ESB have a feed to the house!

dolanbaker the ESB have since stopped doing that I enquired with them a few months ago.

The sparks can fully wire up your garage and he can sign off that area for connection and you can run an entension lead into the house then. That's about the best option available.

I had the electrician fit a RCD/MCB into the meter box and attached a pair of flying leads with "commando" sockets on them, the ESB were happy to connect that arrangement.

That was only three years ago!

We're in the process of getting the ESB on... I rang 2 months ago to see if anything but the proper cert would work and it was a firm NO. The engineer told me they had stopped about a year ago..
We're lucky to have a temp supply from the farm yard to work off...

Yeah it's only a few months ago they started clamping down on temporary connections as a few cowboys were taking chances connecting up houses

hi all, i need a bit of advice. im doing a rewire at the minute in ballyfermot dublin. im relocating the esb meter box from the back of the house to a meter box that will be built into a new porch. the thing is the old meter is being supplied from cables above not below the ground and im assuming that the esb will be supplying the new meter from above. iv being looking up some spec for the meter boxs for cable entrys and they all seem to be accessed from below. is there any way of getting the esb supply into the box from above or is it alright to have the hockey stick pointing up leaving an enterance to it just under the new porch facia for the esb cable entry? :confused:any one with previous experiance with this situation? regards stephen
