Can anyone link me to a website where it states the dimensions for a site layout. Stuff like Distance from percolation area to the house, percolation area to the boundary, Size of percolation area etc etc.
Basically anything that states the minimum allowable dimensions. I always thought it was in the HB book but I can't find it there now

    Here you go.
    EPA Guidelines for single houses

EDIT: Seperation distances are on page 21

Thanks for that Jimbo. That table and figure13 in particular are exactly what I was looking for

make sure your local authority works to the same document....

if they work to the old SR 6 1991, these separation distances are different...

but i think its only laois that use SR 6....

    Lucky you so syd:rolleyes:

I remember being told once that the percolation area has to be a minimum of 15M away from the nearest part of a dwelling and up to 20M in some areas. According to that EPA doc it states 7M/10M. Is this too close?

A lot of you are spoiled :). 20m separating distance in Donegal (house to perc. area)

    offaly use EPA guidelines....

the perc area CAN be within 10m.... but try to keep it as far as possible...
it will need to be 30m from a well... but this depends on topography

but remember that the effluent treatment system can be up to 7m from the dwelling.

the pipe from the ETS to the perc area must be sealed.....

offaly require an ETS in all rural situations...

Thanks syd. Thorough as always. I'm allowing 15M to be sure anyway, but its nice to have some clarification on this. Can the Percolation area run parallel to the rear of the house, or does it have to run away from it. I mean, the pipe from the house to the perc. area can it turn at 90degrees when it reaches the perc area or does it have stay straight?

    EDIT: Pic posted!

No problems with the direction of the percolation pipes. Just check your distances at the rear boundary. ;)

    seconded what muffler says...

just make sure that the pipes run parallell with the contours of the ground...

but as its offaly.. theres probably no contours at all :D

Is it only SR6 that requires a reserve percolation area?

Yea I think so. EPA has no mention of reserve percs.
I suppose properly constructed percolation areas to EPA guidelines should never need a reserve.
