Hi The question is in the title...

I had Norton 2008 on my pc until the sub ran out...uninstalled it a put AVG free on....

    Will this offer enough protection??

I have the windows firewall running as well

Generally I'll install AVG Free, Windows defender and that keeps em clean.

I've been using AVG Free for 2 years now and no problems, obviously it can't cover for 'dumb internet surfing' so as long as you use the head you should be fine.

NOD32 is very good at internet monitoring... will advise you of any bad or potentially bad sites or links
    I strongly recommend it

Our technical side often have to remove viruses from machines using AVG free, although this is often due the fact that the user has not been keeping it updated

Been using for 5 years hassle free. Users not updating cant be blamed on AVG. For a free product it is excellent.
