I want to output Skys sound to Home Cinema system. My question is will this route correctly using a scart from Sky to TV and an optical cable from TV to Home Cinema ? Or do I need to using phono cables directly from Sky box to Home Cinema system ?
Can anyone tell me what (if any) Sky content is broadcast with Surround Sound ?
    Thanks

do you have a sky box or a sky+ box?? best way is to hook the sky box up directly

Its a standard sky box, the problem with connecting directly is that I need to bore a hole in the wall to put the cables through. I've got one sky box serving 2 TVs (in separate rooms) via 2 scart outputs. The sky box and the Home Cinema system are not in the same room. I'd prefer not to have to bore more holes in the wall so I'm hoping that the optical cable from TV will work. Thanks

depending on the tv, yes it will. you wont get proper surround sound through as scart cant carry surround sound.

Thanks, looks like I have no option other than use the phono cables to connect Sky Box directly. Is it only Sky Movies that provide surround sound ?
