Hey guys, I read this thread, lots of great advice!! :)

Anyway, my o/h is getting me a touch for christmas (16 GB)... A few questions. It's my first mp3 player, and I wanna be prepped for it. At the moment I'm getting album art for everything in my iTunes etc. I had everything for a while, but I started to get lazy about it!

Just looking for tips in general.
    • Should I get a cover/case for the thing itself?
    • Has anybody got recommendations for good in-ear phones? (~€40/50)
    • What size are downloaded games typically?
    • Should I jailbreak it or does that depend on what I want to do with it?
    • What's the best quality video file for use on the touch?
    • Anything else I should be doing?

    Thanks for any advice.

    1. I have a Marware Sports Grip cover, it's kinda rubber so it's great for protecting i if you happen to drop it and it'll keep the back scratch free

    2. Sennheiser CX300, you'll pick a pair up from eBay for around €20 but they're roughly €40 in shops

    3. Games vary in size, i think you can check the size in the app store before you download them, i know that Cro-Mag Rally is 56MB but i'm sure there's a few bigger ones

    4. Jailbreaking i completely at your discretion, i've been doing it since the very first jailbreak so I just do it out of habit now and I love having custom themes! There are a good few free apps out there that you can only get from jailbreaking but plenty of people are more than happy to work of the app store..... up to you really

    5. I could be wrong but I think iPodsd only accept videos in MP4 format

    6. If you have Eircom broadband at home, sign up on their website for free access to all their wifi hotspots (ends in March I think), it's really handy if you're out and need to check something online

    Enjoy

I'm gettin the 8gb model for my gf for christmas.
    I found it on dabs.ie for €195
But it says delivery 1-2 days which means they don't have it in stock and I don't wanna place an order cause they NEVER have it in 1-2 days
Its on ebay for around the 195 mark as well but could also be facing delivery delays there.
Can anyone link me to an etailer who has it in stock and is trustworthy

    Cheers
(Apologies for the hijack, but amull87 did a great job replying to all the quesions)

He did indeed, much thanks :)

My o/h got it from apple.com. She ordered it on wednesday night, had it Friday morning... I'm not allowed even hold the thing till the 25th...

It'l be a little more expensive, i.e. whatever RRP is, but you can get it engraved from there! Not sure where else I'm afraid!

Checked out apple.com expecting the prices to be insane.
The 8gb model was €219 only €24 in the difference with dabs.ie but you get the following by ordering off apple.com

    Free delivery (today only apparantly)
    Free custom engraving
Free gift packaging with custom message

Snapped one up just now, nice call on apple.com Burning Eclipse

May I point you in the direction of this thread. It started when so many of us first picked up Touch's at Christmas last year, and there's lots of good advice sprawled through the topic.
