    hi all,

I dont know if this is the best place for this post but since it is related to media centre software I will give it a go...

I recently started to use windows meda centre in order to play music. I have always be a devoted user of MEdia Monkey but in a TV screen WMC is much more suitalble.
However, I am having the following problem. The VISTA media centre PC is in the living room with the music folder shared in the wireless network. I have a laptop with XP that I used to remotely acess to th music shared folder and update the metadata using MediaMonkey, which is great for that...
However, when I went back to use windows media centre in the living room PC I realised that WMC did not update the library at all. I went to see the music folder and all the files that I updated have now another file in the same folder with extension "XXXXX file" and 0kb size.

Why is WMC not updating the library?
What are those "XXXXX file"s doing in there?
How does WMC/WMP watches the library? Each time you boot?

    cheers

    Hi,

    Making some progress...

The "XXXXX file" duplicates only appear in the music folder when I update the cd cover. STill do not know why...

Windows Media centre does not update metadata because you have to update it from Windows Media player by using "Update Media information". I still did not find a way to do it from WMC.

What really drives me craxy is that in some cases the medatata updated from media monkey does not correspond fully to the metadata shown in WMC or WMP. Even though the properties of those files show that the metadata is correct in media monkey...
Also, after changes some songs dissapear from WMC/WMP and I dont know how to have them back....
