Paying registration fee

    Hi

How do you pay the registration fee? I'm talking about the 1500 euros (not to be confused with the application fee).

Do you have to go the "long way" like doing a bank transaction (more complicated), or can you pay with Visa or something like that?

When is it to be payed? Before or after you have come to Ireland?

    /John

Most colleges will have a system in place where they accept Visa. It needs to be paid before you formally enroll (that's on your first day of the course or on whatever day they run an orientation day if that's before your first day). If you're outside Ireland, it doesn't matter whether you pay before or after you get here. However, if you're outside Ireland and you're not an Irish national, check with the college that your fee isn't higher - I've seen a few people turn up with a lodgment receipt for the full registration fee only to be told they had to pay more (sometimes a lot more).

If you are from Ireland and receive a grant will this also be paid for you, or is there any help a student can get with regards to funding the registration fee???

If you get a grant you should have this paid for you - but some colleges will want you to pay it and then claim it back from the local authority. This isn't a good idea, as it can take several weeks to get your money back! Plus it goes against the whole idea of the grant if you pay it.

It was January before I got mine back for DCU, though it was only 800 and something.
