cheapest non-netbook laptop?

    Hey,

Am on the look out for a low-cost laptop but don't want to get a netbook - the thing needs to have an optical drive and be of any size above 10"... any other specifications aren't really an issue once it runs some version of XP and can do day-to-day stuff.

I'm guessing I'll be looking at something around the €400 mark from what I've seen online but does anyone know of anything cheaper than that by any chance?

    Thanks in advance.

You could go for a second hand machine. Considering your budget it'd probably be the best place to start. Checking adverts and fleebay and the likes.

Try a trip up to Newry and take advantage of the strong euro and the reduction in VAT, that should shave a few quid off the price
