    Some lovely shots, I quite like #1 & 4, especially 4!
    3 & 5 don't do much for me tho.

    :)

#1 Is that shooting star I see? The stars always look great to me esp. in wide, but the sodium light I personally find a bit unnatural, maybe in b&w though with contrast you get the inky black of outer space and the remaining terrestrial light becomes atmospheric. The guy adds some interest to the composition but then when you look at him there's not much of a story or something, not really sure what I'd want there, flash fill might be ott.

#2 Deadly shot with the robin(?) looking straight towards the camera (had a similar thing happen around 15' from a squirrel and I think it's because he saw another squirrel trapped in my lens, ie his own reflection off the filter). Very sharp, nice colours, and the new growth where the gnarly branch has been trimmed adds to the "life will find a way" theme.

    #3 or #4 don't really grab me.

#5 of the bird in flight is striking and sharp. At first glance it looks like a seriously telephoto shot, but after a bit it looks like the background could be a uniform fill in pp. I think some sky detail would add to it but again that's just one guys taste out of 6.7 billion of us. Regardless of the background it's a great clear shot of a bird in flight and better than anything I've managed.

    Diverse selection overall, well done.

Just a plane. The guy in the photo is me, just really trying out the fisheye to see how much I could get into the shot.

I lost some of the colour of the sky, trying to bring back some of the detail in the wings. It was only a clear blue sky to begin with. Thanks for the comments.

Thanks kjt and King Nothing for the comments.

    All great shots!

I love 1, very nicely done.

No.2 looks like the bird knew you were taking they shot! Excellent stuff, my own work with birds always sucks!

No. 3 I like messing with perspective and light and shadow and this does a little bit of both, i quite like it.

No. 4 , just plain excellent.

No. 5, i dearly wish i could get a shot like number five, excellent detail and sharp as a pin. Lovely stuff.

It's just a long exposure shot - 30 seconds, f/2.8 and ISO 1000. Settings a bit higher than I would have used, had I been trying to take the shot properly.

Thanks Dragan. Couldn't imagine trying to shoot birds with the shutter lag of a bridge, so I'd imagine you're doing pretty well with what you've got, considering.

Yeah,i have found ways of working around most of the limitations of my camera but the shutter lag can be a killer for that type of thing.

Still, hopefully won't be too long until i can stop worrying about that!

cool..I must try again. When I leave the shutter open that long I get star trails. Are you living outside a big city? What I hadnt done was set the iso to a high value.....hmmmmm must try.hopefully tonight as the visibility is very sharp today.

Just try out a few different combination of settings, it will depend on how dark your location is. The photo above was taken a few miles outside Athlone, you can see the lights from town in the bottom left hand corner.

The longer your focal length, the more apparent the trails will be.

Took me a bit of head-scratching to realise that after a scary night-shoot up the 3-rock.
Also the velocity increases with distance from the north star, it being the hub of relative rotation (earths axis points at it, but the axis also precesses over a period of 26k years so in 13,000 years Vega in the constellation Lyra will be in line and act as the north star instead of polaris).

The fisheye of the castle is starting to grow on me now, it's got a hammer house of horror vibe.
