    Hi

I have a USB cardreader, but its quite slow. Should I get a firewire one. I only use the CF slot and the firewire ones only have CF unlike the multi slot USB cardreaders:confused:

Do you need more than a CF card?

I think there's some card readers (Sandisk possibly?) that have CF/SD readers.

Is your current reader USB 1.0 or 2.0? If it's 1.0, then an upgrade to 2.0 would help a lot, otherwise, unless you're transporting lots of data, and need it fast, I wouldn't worry too much!

I just need the CF slot, my current one is USB 2.0. I use 4Gb (133x) cards but they seem to be pretty slow

Went for the Sandisk Firewire Extreme reader after having so many many problems with 5 different USB2 readers on diffrent PC's

When dumping 16GB of images every bit of speed helps and the FireWire reader keeps me very happy.

    Oh only running at Firewire400

Are all of the ports that your connecting to on the PC USB2? Aslo if you've got an extra USB hub connected to the PC that you then connect the card reader to then that may only be USB1 as well.
