So just re installed windows XP and getting back up and running AVG is my AV of choice and just wanted to know is a firewall essential or is the XP one any good.

Used to run Comodo but found it was very unstable and the new verion wanted permission to do everything

The XP one is fine TBH, not much benifits from a third party one...

The XP one won't block outgoing connections, if you are behind a router also, it's ok enough.

Yup behind a router but have the firewall in it disabled as it wouldn't open ports that I use for P2P on another machine
