Hi All, got engaged last week and now I'm trying to work out our wedding budget here, (I was hoping to do most if not all of it for €10k), and choosing a photographer is really confusing me!

I've seen prices from €500 to €5000 on various websites. I don't want to scrimp on the photos cos it's important to both of us to have good pictures to look back on (I've seen some really dodgy wedding albums and I'd be devastated if ours turned out like them!) Basically I'd be looking for a nice wedding album and some bigger pics for going on the wall. Would anyone be able to give me a rough idea of what I should be expecting to pay? Or if you could recommend someone I'd really appreciate it!!! This whole organising thing is looking like it's going to be much more complicated than I thought!!

    Thanks!!

PS: I heard that you don't actually own the rights to your own wedding photos, unless the photographer signs them over to you, is that true?

Correct and a photographer would never sign them over unless you paid for it. However, they can provide a letter of authorisation to enable you to print images if you got them on cd/dvd.

Congrats on getting hitched too. Shame I am not closer as would love to help out and shoot your wedding especially as I have done a few boardsie weddings now ;)

That's good to know! Is it really a big issue not to own the rights to your photographs? I'd just be afraid of seeing my wedding pics in some advert or something!

Thanks! :) Tis a pity I'm not closer to Galway! That could sort out my dilemma nicely! ;)

    Hi,

I can highly recommend the guy who did my wedding in August i.e. David McClelland. If you look at the sticky on photographers, you'll find all the information you need there. In relation to the above sentence, he includes the photographs as part of his package, so no need to be pay the extra.

    Hope that helps, :)

I checked out his website and his stuff is great! I like the type of album he does, it's really original! And not too pricey! Thanks bensoneb!
