Newbie Question

    Hi, complete Newbie here.

I would be interested in getting German and Spanish channels as well as the standard English ones.

Currently I am on a very overpriced UPC package.

If I get a dish and a satellite package, am I able to get
BBC, ITV, UTV, Channel 4 etc etc as well as some German and Spanish channels?

    Cheers,

    Z

You certainly can, but not all on the same satellite. You will either need a motor on the dish or have multiple lnbs on the one dish.

It is possible to do this yourself, I did, it will just take a bit of time. Alternatively you could get one of the pros to do it.

    Motor if one Satellite receiver.

Multple LNBs and Multiswitch if PVR or more than one receiver.

(Satellite PVR needs two connections, unlike Cable or Terrestrial).

If you want lots of Spanish, that's 30W, which won't work on a dish for 28.2E (UK TV) and 19E (Lots of German). A motorised dish with 90cm to 110cm triax and Motek motor will do 42E to 45W in most Irish locations.

A larger & Heavier dish needed for some more awkward to get transmissions needs a 36V motor system.
