Removing blood stains from dress?

    Hi all,

Due to a bleeding leg, the end of the back of my beautiful silky/satiny dress (cream!) has a very small blood stain. Is all hope lost, have been looking round the net and consensus seems to be if you don't do something immediately, you won't get the stain out :(

The only thing I've found that works is .... sounds weird, but bear with me.... get a large wad of string and chew it, then rub it on the stain.

I think it has to be done fairly quickly though.

I've never had a problem getting bloodstains out, especially with synthetic fabrics. Wash it in a biological detergent, and maybe put a dot of Fairy Liquid directly onto the stain before you put it in the machine.
Another thing you could do is make a paste with baking soda and warm water and rub it into the fabric.
    Unless of course it's dry-clean only ;)

How did you ever work that one out?

You shouldn't put warm water on blood because it's a protein and it'll set the stain..

I heard that soak the iten in cold water and salt is suppose to get blood out..

But since its a dress i'd say make a paste with cornflour and cold water, let it dry then brush it off and wash as normal..

Cold water and salt will do it, used this to get blood out of a ball gown. It actually works.

Oh god, blood on dress, been there! Check the fabric, if it's a synthetic one then it's not so bad. Get a bath and fill it with water (cold or very slightly lukewarm) and put some biological handwash into it (the enzymes will gobble up the blood) and scrub the lather into the fabric, homefully it should come out then!

Also my blood stains were in the dress for a year (couldn't get them out the first time and sorta...forgot about it) and they still came out.
