Can anyone recommend a reliable brand and model witht the above criteria? All of the smaller laptops I've looked at have only 1Gb of RAM.

Also, is there a particular manufacturer whao has a reasonably priced extendable warranty?

    Thanks in advance.

Don't be put off by 1Gb of ram, its a very easy job to upgrade ram oon latops these days in most cases. Usually one screw to open, pop ram out and new ram in. Plus ram is dirt cheap these days. I got 4Gb for about €40 recently (dabs.ie).

Depending on what compatibility you need with a PC you can get it through parralells desktop or vmware fusion for the mac. If its just office compatibility open office doees a great job.

I would maybe suggest a dell xps m1330 but don't get it with the nvidia gfx card in it as that has proven to be a problem. Other than that its a great laptop, good size, power etc. Upgrading the ram on it to 4Gb was a simple job also. Not sure about Dells warranty costs but sometimes they have deals on them.
