I'm in. that should attract some value hunters.....Seems like ages since me last game.

I can't understand why it would be €55 more expensive when there are so few people playing it? I hope it takes off though, as I like the game.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 152 ✭✭wendelsailor

What are the chances of the SE getting a serious amount of players for this? Not like the usual sit n go!

    .

    Another dumb move IMO.

If you want to get a crowd for it stick a 10K guarantee on it.
If you build it they will come.

if you keep messing around with it they won't.

10k is only 40 runners all the same

25k guarantee...now that would show some ambition...

    John, Alex?

    It works for the Pokerbratz...!

The reason as to why it has changed is because they wanted to have a Christmas Cracker but that didn't materialize, so they came up with this instead.

With the amount of big buy in tournies in the last couple of weeks i think this is a perfect size buyin.

40 runners = more than twice of what turned up last month

A 300 reg free thank you tournament is nothing like a 275 10% reg one, with no money added or indeed hope of it being a success.
I feel sorry for John and Alex its a bit like hiring michaelangelo for a painting and only allowing him crayons.

Why would you make it more expensive when this tournie hasn't been attracting the amount of runners that it should ? Is there a reason behind it ? Surely the point is to attract more players!

Agreed.....A guaranteed prizepool would be great and could really benefit the SE by attracting more value hunters!!

Just bout to head in for the satellite, hope to see some of you's there.

Two tickets, i scooped one finally thank god got a bit scary for awhile, with Vera shortstack double up continually.

Got crazy lucky when i got it in with AQ versus BBJ's QQ turned the straight, got Vera all in with my K10 against her 78 suited pinged the 7 on the turn, then the other guy who got the ticket his A7 against my 88 he pings the Ace on the turn.

Hopefully there will be a nice turn out for this now.

    Nice one, well played.

Hope they get a decent turnout: I'd like to see this game take off again.

I'd say he wasn't a happy bad beat bunny :D:D

Wp Danny; your playing well recently.

Wp Danny - did Vera get the other ticket? Can't play this weekend, which really sucks, damn social engagements keeping me from poker.

I might wander in at 3am plastered though and river a few houses to keep my head above water :)

You could hear him mumble under his breath but when Vera is at the table he seems to behave himself.

Your guess is as good as mine, but would love to get revenge on you for knocking me out of the Killarney Main Event :pac: :p

If I thought there was the remotest chance that this would get 40 runners I'd head in.
As there are probably lots of people thinking along similar lines its a Catch 22 I guess.

Half right. Actually got 22. If all those who would play this if it got at least 40 showed up, it would get at least 40.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,755 ✭✭✭tylerdurden94

Congrats Dara well done :) (if you dont know who i was i was the guy in the batman tshirt)

22 runners which wasnt bad but defo not great, i was expecting around 25 as Dara said im sure if all the people who were in half minds about going actually went then it would of gotten a hell of alot more runners.

Liam Flood and Dara went on and chopped it heads up, Liam came out with some of the funniest stuff i have heard/seen at a poker table lately.

The chief was chip leader after about 3 hands when he took out Rob Taylor, Ecktor up to his usual antics at the table.

Or to put it another way, if they had put up a 10K guarantee they would have had no trouble covering it.

Thanks Danny, was a pleasure to meet and chat to you. Very nice of you to congratulate me straight after the end.

And yeah, Liam's always a delight to play against, both for the challenge and the banter. He told me early on he was taking it seriously because it was practise for his Poker Million semi on Wednesday and went on to play the best I've ever seen him play personally.

He had over 90% of the chips by the time we got headsup but I managed to claw some back in early skirmishes. Was looking forward to the challenge of playing him headsup to the end but when he offered a chop that was a lot better for me than my theoretical tournament equity at that point I was happy to take it.

I agree with Peter's point that the SE should stick a guarantee on this if they're serious about reviving numbers but unfortunately I don't think they'll be doing it any time soon.

I think the Chief knocked out about half the field despite not making the final table. He claimed three victims in the very first level, and went on to take out a few more, including Vera with a well disguised two unders and gutshot that he hit on the river.

I had seen you playing the €500 game and whatnot around but wasnt to sure if you knew who i was, should of introduced myself properly (d'oh)

When the tournie started i was sitting to your right thinking this isnt going to be fun, then the table broke and i had Declan to my right and Ecktor to my my left not so bad.

I was saying to Cat that i had played against Liam a couple of times but never really for a significant amount of time until last night and to see the way he changed gears was really good, when he took that knock against you early on and even at the break he was sitting on like 5k he made some very good moves and some nice lay downs.

Line of the night from Liam, him and Vinnie (maybe a drink or two on board) was chatting for a bit and Liam turns around and says "can you speak english because i cant understand a thing your saying" :D

With regards the tournie itself they have never guaranteed their monthly tournies, would it be good if they did YES, with the New Year approaching hopefully we will start to see a change in that direction from the SE.

I was kicking myself I didn't get more out of him on the first hand. Every other version of Liam I've played against would have bet the river (and maybe even called my check raise shove), which is why I went with that line.

Liam can certainly change gears all right. After he got the giant stack at the FT, he pretty much ran over us.
