Well, when you factor in fuel costs it adds up the price. Depending on your proximty to the border. :)

im goin up north on monday to stock up on beer for xmas and to buy
the stella beer cooler in argos for under 110eu which costs 170 here.

I can live with paying extra for this tho and i suppose there'll be a
queue outside with only a handful of these to be got

Reminder - there are no Aldi stores in Northern Ireland.

I tried Coolock too and they were gone very early by all accounts.

    i got one in galway
    there was no mad panic
the store had about 15 and they were gone in
    10mins app
expected a queue when i got there 20mins before opening but
there was only one person outside
    seems decent enuff
    sound is good and the
usb/divx feature makes it worthwhile imo
it also converts your cd to mp3 but in fairness
it took half an hour to do one cd when on the pc
this wouldve taken a couple of mins

Do Aldi employees do a "tesco" and keep for themselves and mates? If they did have so few it must be just a ploy to get people in. Pity, it was a nice piece of kit.

I got one in Ballincollig a couple of hours after opening and there was still a few left. Mine was all scratched on the front though, as long as it works it will do fine I suppose.

All sold out in my local Aldi in about 30 mins :(.

Hopefully they will be in stock again at some stage in the not too distant future.

You have to connect it to a TV using a scart or a composite cable to see your video.

Are these any good? Have a media player but it has stopped working as a media player so could get this, seems really good for the price

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,961 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

I bought the system on sale this time last year
It's only average but for the price it was just about
    worth buying
Mine freezes from time to time when playing
    of the usb
The sound quality is decent too

Complete and utter muck, worked for about 5 minutes and started frezzing and sound is crackely is the only way i describe it. Its a fancy dvd player nothing more nothing less.

Aldi employees probably wouldn't have time.

Each one of them has mutiple tasks.

I saw one bloke sort out the trollies, stack the shelves and do the tills in the hour I was in Aldi the last time!

Well just bought one there and, without having time to open it yet, seems different to last years model. 2.0 channel 75 watt rms speakers. No sub? And it looks quite different to the old one. Will update later.

mine works and seems to do the job. havent tried a dvd yet though, as its not hooked up to a tv. pretty pleased with it.

as with all cheap electronics, it can be a hit or miss.

You need to take it back to the shop like you were told when you were buying it.

I notice Dunnes are offering something similar for less, not sure the spec is the same though, probably not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,776 ✭✭✭podge3

Aldi in Thurles only got their stock of this item this morning. About 4 out on display.

*OLD THREAD* - sorry to bring it up again,

over the last few months my one speaker on this system started crackling, and eventually caved today, and no longer plays sound. Aldi website was no help, and doesnt recognize the product under their search, so i called the number on the back and was told that because i dont have a receipt, (lost) they could do nothing, but i looked up on my bank statements and had paid by lazer, which they have to accept as proof of payment. they're sending out a man to pick it up, (though originally they first guy i spoke to told me i had to post it myself.) and it should take 3 weeks to fix (!)

anyway just some info i though someone might find usefull.

PS: my remote control never really worked properly.
the system is covered by a 36 month warranty.

    Small tip.
Always keep the box in case of returns and sellotape the receipt to the box so it doesn't get lost.
