I thought I'd move this to a new thread to keep the Wrestler of the Year 2008 on topic. What do people think of Roode and Storm?

I thought he showed a lot of potential until he got tagged up as half of beer money, he appeared to me, to be a credible upper midcarder and possible main eventer. I think he and Storm got the shaft with Beer Money in the sense that they spent enough years floundering in the tag ranks, only to get paired and thrown back in there when they were in the midst of establishing themselves as singles players.

I think Beer Money was a great thing for Roode and Storm. They may have been lost in the shuffle because of the MEM storyline and lets them stay in the spotlight. Though I do agree, Roode was great at the start of the year up until Slammiversary. Storm and Roode are the future of TNA.

Please do not get me wrong with that statement. I enjoy Beer Money as much as the next person should. I just thing it was done too late. They needed to pair those two up for a bit as the ultimate heel tag team after Team Canada and AMW BEFORE throwing the two into singles.

It's a great idea, just lousy timing. Story of TNA's life really.

I think there's a small chance they might join the MEM as a group that have payed their respects to the older guys. They teamed with Booker a while ago and the only real heat between all of the guys is Roode and Booker over the Sharmell angle but seeing as they've teamed after the event can't see that being a problem. Storm is the better wrestler though. Had the best match of 2007 with Braden Walker of all people

That was before Harris got fat. I'd say Roode and Storm are pretty equal in most areas.

The Sacrifice match did make up for it.

Vince Russo. "people really loved you as a tag team so there's a ton of interest in this match. Have a good one tonight and you'll be on the road to the main event like Christian, Edge and Jeff. I made all of them. It'll be a little difficult though because you're in a cage so you can't go outside to rest.

    Storm"No problem Vince"

V.R."It'll be a little more difficult because you'll be wearing blindfolds"

    AMW"what?"

V.R."But that's not enough, needs something else.... I got it. How about a ref bump, haven't seen one of those in a blindfold cage match in a while. It's so fresh"

    Chris"ehh"

V.R."But something's still missing though, you'll need to stand out from the others some how... I got it. Chris, what does everybody else do in this show"

    Chris."Wrestle"

V.R."Exactly it's boring. What you two are going to do is have a big game of Marco Polo by grunting and punching air. And to think some people say i don't have it anymore"

I think they needed to establish the seperate Beer and Money gimmicks first for the two gimmicks to work as well as they have together, otherwise they would have just been "the guy from Team Canada and the guy from AMW"

This is pro wrestling. A storyline within the timeframe of two weeks could have done that. Not waiting until one is on the verge of main eventing and the other just finishing a dragged out feud with his former tag partner.

Nah, don't think it would have worked as well that quickly.
I was dissapointed at first when they put them together and interupted their singles runs, but the way they've packaged them, combining the gimmicks, still let's them keep their individual status and makes them more a "supergroup" than a tagteam if you get me, kinda like Rated RKO. Don't think they could have achieved that say a year or 18 months ago. They both needed to establish themselves a bit first.

The essential difference there is WWE didn't f*ck it all up when it came to pushing Orton and Edge as singles stars again.

Much as i hate to say this, but i'll bet my damn mortgage TNA will!
