What is the best thing to do with a slab which has water come up trough it in heavy rain.

Looks like there is a tear in dpm under the floor.

there are companys who deal with damp in old houses by drilling and filling.

Sounds very strange - any photo?
How high is the external ground level in relation to the floor slab?
    Burst pipe / drain?

I have seen this before in places with high water table. The one I seen was on an internal step where the DPM was torn.

due to the work and mess necessary to fix , it was decided to leave well alone.
