"Speaking at yesterday's annual meeting, chief executive Gerry Harvey described the performance of his 13 Irish stores as "catastrophic" and said he regretted expanding into the Irish market. But he added that the investment was too big to pull out now."

    There was.

I also love the Irish reaction to this, "If you dont like it **** off". That attitude has pissed me off more than anything over here.

cue the "**** off then" comments.

Which is probably where they came from in the first place.

Maybe if they weren't so expensive they would be doing better.

It really is a simple case of if you don't like it then Fck Off, not our fault you (Harvey Fcking Norman) couldn't sell your overpriced crap to us.

emmmm....was that random? Because we're talking about a notoriously overpriced retailer, who happens to be whinging because - essentially - we won't buy his notoriously overpriced stuff......

But if 'even more think it's Mr Harvey Norman in the ads' it means that more people think it's him in the ads, than believe it's a real person.

No even more people believe that the idiot roaring 'Go Harvey, GO' in the ads is a guy called Harvey Norman who also runs the shop, than there are people who believe there is a guy called Harvey Norman who runs the shop

    what you should have said;

without this the sentence makes no sense.

because the first group of people also believe Harvey Norman runs the shop. This is not what keira said. her words were clearly contradictory.

I can see his business plan now:
    Phase 1. Go to Ireland
Phase 2. Annoy the sh*t out of everyone with obnoxious ads for overpriced crap
    Phase 3. ?
    Phase 4. Profit.

    How could it fail:confused:?

...not really though. Why is it such a sensitive matter to say that about? If they said, "the people who died in the famine were better off dead", then I might say something, but... well I don't see the fuss.

Maybe if they weren't so expensive they would be doing better.

    ...and there's the bottom line.
Even during one of their bank holiday stock clearance sales I've never been tempted by anything they were offering at the prices they wanted for it, and I'm really only on about electricals/electronics here...their furniture prices are almost laughable.
It's funny I didn't hear them complaining when times were good...everyone's in the same boat here, not just Mr Harvey...

As for the famine thing? Meh who gives a f*ck...there's been a lot worse than that said about us in times past, by bigger more important people. We'll live.
