Going out to Time next week for my friends 21st. Been about a year since I was near any sort of night club so Im at a loss with regards to what to wear. Put on a bit of weight in the last while too so none of my old dressy/going out clothes fit.
My friend was saying that she wants a kind of cocktail styled dress theme as she's mad into her cocktail dresses but with the extra weight on I wouldnt be that confident wearing a cocktail dress.
Im thinking a pair of Black Jeans and a nice top that would fit the theme while at the same time disguising my belly (Ive a bit of a bulge so anything tight or clingy is a big no-no). I would be a size 14/16.
Im normally not a very fashion conscious person but seein as it a 21st I should make the effort.

Any ideas Girls? Ive feck all time to go traipsing around the shops tryin to find something so post links and advice here! All are welcome to contribute!!:D:D:D

There are some fab tops around at the moment, in Warehouse, Next and River Island, that you could defo wear with jeans. Have a look on the websites instead of having to walk around all the shops

You should try a pair of trinny and suzann underwear when deciding what to wear. They are not the most attractive things in the world but they do work. Pennys have them for about €7 and i find them great. I wouldnt be the best for dresses but feel more comfortable when i have these on underneath cos they smooth out all the lumps and bumps. A shrug cardigan over the dress will help with the top part so there is no reason you cant wear a dress. Get someone you trust to go shopping with you and the most important thing is that you are comfortable in it not what anyone else thinks. Good luck and enjoy the night.

I got a pair in Pennys and I felt fatter in them! If you are going to get a pair, you need to get the Spanx ones. Expensive but worth it, its like an investment!!

    1. Join a gym or exercise more
    2. Eat less crap

    :P:P

Already on the exercise buzz and Iv been much more conscious of what ive been eating lately and im setting up a diet plan for myself as we speak. But it will take time to see the weight coming off as im a firm believer in slow steady weight loss so im obviously not going to be a skinny minnie come next week.
Im just looking for advice on how to make myself look as good as possible for this party i.e. what to wear. So in that respect your advice isnt really that helpful.

As for the other posters, I previously bought a pair of spanx in BT and I got a 16 and they turned out to be too big. Rang BT and asked if I could change them as I had only tried em on over my underwear and they told me no. so Im stuck with them now and too annoyed (and broke) to buy a new pair.

Might I also ask what is a biased cut? Im completely clueless when it comes to fashion.

I got it from littlewoods. It's an oasis dress though.

also saw this on oasis.. would be lovely on i'd say

    http://www.oasis-stores.com/fcp/product/Oasis/Dresses/Grecian-drape-dress/3170048801

The way it's cut under the boobies means it will just skim over your stomach x

I had a look on the oasis site to see if I could find it but its not there. I was going to ring oasis in liffey valley and see if they have it in stock there because it takes 4 weeks for delivery from Littlewoods and I would need to try the dress on. Any idea where I could get something similar if I cant get that one? Im hopeless!!

For nice dresses def check out Zara- they have lovely ones in for around the €50 mark & I'm fairly pear-shaped/hippy (large bum I'll just say it and stop pretending) and they have a fair bit in now to choose from.
I don't like their site though as you cant really view the selsction
    :(
Some of their stuff is def for twigglets but for the more curvy girl there are some options- and for me the fact you could buy two dresses for the price of one warehouse one is a def plus! :)

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bias_(textile)

Bias cut basically makes things more stretchy and often fit slightly better.
