So I am using my connections now and I have had some possitive responces. I want to write a cover letter but want to know what you think of this.

I have written many cover letters and they are just crap. I am getting to the stage where I will just say useless rubbish in them just to get a job, I am that desperate. Anyway, be hard on the following, I left out the company for obvious reasons. Any suggestions? Any more I can add or less?

    Dear Mr joe blogs,

I have been informed by a current Company X employer that there may be a position available at your company, Customer Service Representative (English speaking). I would very much like to apply for this position. I have worked in customer service for almost 10 years, in many different sectors. While these sectors may be completely different I understand that all customers have a basic desire for good service.

What I have always tried to do, and in most cases succeeded, is to go that little bit further and delight the customer. I find the most effective way to do this by simply helping the customer as best as I can. As I am a people person, I find it natural to please my customers.

I understand that Company X is a young company and I would like to grow my career along with Company X's success. I believe that I can contribute to this success. I am available for interview immediately and I can also commence employment right away.

Please find attached a copy of my updated CV.

I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.

    Regards,

My take on CS roles is that they want someone who can follow procedure first.
Sometimes you can't help the customer because your hands are tied... if you like pleasing them so much, would this frustrate you?
I'd try to make it clear somehow that you're not going to be a customer service know-it-all who doesn't like to be told how to do their job... with 10 years experience I can see employers getting this impression. (I'm not an employer, but they tend to read into things and assume the worst IMO)
Maybe focus more on selling your adaptability and display some knowledge of the company.

    My 2c anyhoo.

    Thanks.

The company is brand new, so there is little I know about it. It is a medical company, I have no medical background?

Maybe I should say something after contributing to their success like:

I am very flexible and versatile, from being in the Reserve Defence Forces I know how to follow procedures and protocols, I also have the ability to use my initiative when needed.
