Buying Samsung 40A656 LCD up north

Good savings to be had but the important questions are a) will it work the exact same as an LCD bought down south and b) is the technical spec the exact same? Have read about this on forums and there seems to be an issue regarding UHF v's VHF functionality - i presume this is required where you need to stick an aerial on the roof. I have sky for now and may switch to NTL/UPC... will my chosen TV work ok?

I have the 46 inch version of this tv and it works fine down here so I don't see why the 40 inch wouldn't either.

Didn't buy it yet. Might leave it until sales in new year, also i need to get an alarm installed first!
Might get the package at http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1186340635.1229450938@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccgdadefmhdimficflgceggdhhmdgmj.0&page=Product&fm=12&sm=0&tm=1&sku=874231&category_oid=-34810 for £979 = €1085.
SAMSUNG LE40A656A 40" HD 1080p Rose Black LCD TV, Blu-ray Player & Glass Stand. It should fit on the back seats else will drop seats down. DID have TV alone for €1250 & bluray player for €300 = €1550 and stand is not included in this.

Also consider the LG 42PG6000. Richer Sounds have them for £599 at the mo. They have a branch in Belfast.

It's plasma, not an LCD like the Samsung you linked to. Has a great spec too, afaics. :)

Hey, did you contact Currys to confirm you can pick this set up as I was going to do the same and when I rang them yesterday I was disappointed to be told that it (and almost any other set I viewed on their site) was only available for home delivery to a northern ireland address. I then noticed the "Unavailable to Reserve&Collect" on the site:(

my father was moving his and he put it on his back seat not a problem. he took it out of the box and wrapped it in bubble wrap. then just stood it upright. plenty of room

Anyone try this TV doen south yet?

I was up In Belfast and Lisburn today and they're completely sold out, as was Harvey Norman.

Gonna head up again next week (Ikea) and see if I can order one so if anyone can tell me if it works ok with UPC?

    Cheers
