How expensive is this place for cost of living purposes? I will probably be there skiing at the end of January for a week, just wondering how expensive will food be etc?

It's part of the Les Arcs/La Plagne ski system so lift pass will be pricey, and the mountain restaurants will be pretty standard. If you are a decent skier, go over to Vallaroger which has some nice and affordable restaurants.

I imagine the village itself will be pretty much standard French ski resort prices.

Thanks Eileen, so how much would I be looking to pay for standard french ski resort prices then ?

Totally depends on what you are doing. Meals up the mountain tend to run 10-15 euro for a standard "menu". Drinks extra. Pizza etc are generally around the same as here, coffee and wine etc are cheaper, resort supermarket prices a bit more. Drinks can vary. My sister drinks Brandy & Baileys, she paid 12 euro a go in Val Thorens, 4 euro in Val Cenis.

There's a big hypermarket in Bourg St Maurice where you could stock up on food and booze, so you only have to eat out when you want to and can afford it.
