What is the general consensus on mixing a bit of oly lifting into a westside program somewhere? will it defeat the purpose?

my opinion would be it depends what youu are training for....if its training to bring up ur deadlift/benc/squat then id say no leave them out similarily if hypertrophy was your goal as itd be too much,it take away from these goals BUT if you are training for a mixture of these goals/training for the love of lifting then why not?! maybe use the olympic lifts and their variants in a traditional westside split as your dynamic effort lifts twice a week?

Just what I was gonna say. I think the Dynamic or Repetition days are there to be tinkered with. I got nothing from traditional dynamic work, I think really only big, slow but already strong guys are gonna get the most out of it.

Like I said I think you can mix up those last two days and get good gains.

ive seen OY lifts quite successfully replace the DE squat day in a westside style program...
