I have asked out a girl in work to meet up for drinks next Saturday night.

To cut it short she has only been living in Ireland (Dunboyne) for about 9 months. We are gong to meet up in Dunboyne on Saturday night. She doesnt drink by the way and hardly goes out. So what are the suggestions. Have a dinner date or just go to nice pub and chat for a few hours to get to know her more before the dinner thingy.

any advice would be helpful. thanks

Given that she doesnt drink a nice meal would probably be the best option and then if things are going ok a quieter pub for a chat.

    Good Luck

you should bring her to a quiet enough pub that gets busier in the evening. this way if it goes completely terribly you can opt out and shimmy back to your place.

A meal, cinema, and then maybe a quiet pub. I don't drink, but even that sounds good to me!! Also, a wee walk is nice, if its not cold. Just keep it fairly public so she doesn't think you're gonna hop her :)

Maybe a drink before the meal. If she doesn't drink then she might not appreciate sitting in a pub for any length of time. I'd say she much rather the meal. Pick a restaurant that won't rush you out the door.

How about bowling? It gives you something to do if there is ever one of those awkward moments and it could be fun. See if she has a competitive streak:)

If you're bringing her out to a meal, make sure you don't eat messy food :D

    Update from last Saturday night.

the date went really well, actually better than expected. We met up for a pint and then afterwards off to a restaurant where we had a good laugh. The time just flew. Before I knew it, it was closing time. We held hands and I offered to walk her back to her place which I did. We kissed and we agreed to meet up. off I went to grab a taxi home. Gave her a text the following day and she said she had a wonderful evening. Brill.

We text again yesterday morning about meeting up and she told me that we could meet up, however she had to check if she was available. Called her last night and no answer.

Fast forward to 1 hour ago. Sent me a text to say that she was having problems with her ex over last couple of days and had decided to go back to him as she was still in love with him. Thanked me for last Saturday and game me the usual yadda yadda about me being a great guy. I text her back to say fine and wished her all the best.

Just my luck. to say that I'm kicking myself is a bit of a misunderstanding. She's an absolute stunner but also a bitch for wasting my time. I feel like a sucker here. I paid for the meals, drinks as well as my taxi home.

    bummer :o

Sounds like you had a lucky escape! Sorry to hear it though, but there are better girls out there.

You did everything right but it wasn't to be, then. It's better off happening now.

You're right. I dodged a bullet there big time. it would have been nice if it had worked out.

Lets hope the gods have something in store for me. :D

    ah well! onwards and upwards.
