The Christmas fair/markets at Vörösmarty Square are worth a visit.

Re: hotels? *shrug* All hotels feel soulless to me. Maybe Andrassy Hotel would be good.

I was in Budapest at the begining of November with my boyfriend and would recommend it.

We stayed in the Andrassy and we were both impressed with the hotel. We didnt have the breakfast but we did have an evening meal in the resturant and it was very nice.

The hotel is located close to most things and is just a short walk to Hero square.

We did the Segway tour as well, my boyfriends idea. I was a little unsure of it at the start but then got the balance sorted and was flying.

I would go back again as there are some things we didnt get round to seeing or doing.

There is loads to do- the castle district, gellert hill for the views but it is a trek especially in winter & thermal baths.

We stayed in a really nice good value apartment near opera if you are interested.

Otherwise, four seasons & sheraton both looked lovely if you have the money!!

I stayed at the Hilton West End last month, it was nice, but it was a Hiton so looked exactly the same as every other hilton in the world. It is at the West End shopping centre though, which looked quite good if you like shopping I suppose.

One of my colleagues made a weekend of it though and stopped at the Marriot which is on the banks of the River. Apparantly it has a glass lounge on the roof with views all over the old city and the Danube, she absolutely loved it.

You should easily be able to pickup 4 nights for €300 in Budapest 5* hotels, or around €200 for a 4*

Some good bargains to be had alright.
