I agree with it mostly, but I don't agree with the Homosexual remarks.

The point I'm making is how libellous the whole article is.

Any piece of dirt can snort their way through an eight ball of coke and then get a shooter and waste someone.

A shooter? Was he reading up on the Geezer's Book of Criminal Slang Words before writing the article?

The article isn't written in any formal journalistic style, so why shouldn't he be free to throw in some slang? Especially when its the exact same slang used by the very scumbags he is talking about..

Do Limerick criminals really call guns 'shooters'?

Firesticks or Bang-Bang-canes are the local terms I believe.

I agree with him more people need to start standing up to these scum and deny them the right to lead their lives in the way they have done to so many others.

the Gas chambers are too good for most of this filth.

Not the worst article he's done.

    Little bit OTT.

Most of the stuff he normally writes is usually a lot worse from what I've read of him in the past.

A lot of Limericks social ills were caused by the Government.

Basically, Limerick City had a lot of tenement style housing in the inner city areas. In an attempt to combat this the Government at the time (1970s) started building the estates of Moyross, Southill, Ballinacurra-Weston and St Marys Park. Those living in the inner city areas were moved into those estates. Needless to say they've been a failure unparralled to anything else in this country. Limerick City has the highest percentage of local authority housing in the country and the highest unemployment rate.

The thing that annoys me is that most of the people calling for Gas Chambers, Internment etc have never been in one of these estates and have absolutely no idea what they're like. And the typical response is more force should be used against those people which will only serve to further alienate people living in those estates further and consequently imo lead to more violence.

Now, you must know that I don't condone any of what the criminals and gangsters et al are doing in the city at the moment. I abhorr it and think its a disgrace. But at the same time people must realise why these people are turning to crime in the ways they are. If you think the celtic tiger touched every facet of modern Ireland take a trip into Moyross and see the truth for yourself.

Its an anomaly in Ireland as nothing like it has ever been seen here henceforth we have no answers for the problem. The regeneration project is on hold and there is no short term solution to the problem. The ghettoisation of these area's resembles something like in LA or Detroit not midwest Ireland.

I only wish people would be more constructive at solving this problem rather than the knee-jerk "get harsher" rhetoric that O'Doherty and similar people in the media are peddling.
