Looks like this may be on the cards judging from this story. I had assumed this was dead as I thought they no longer owned the rights but seems they were acquired from Vivendi.

I'd love to see them do it. There's no doubt Relic have turned into one of the best strategy developers out there.

I admit I'm - very - interested in seeing a Homeworld 3 but in terms of plot you have to wonder where they can go.

Are the homeworld games similar to sins of a solar empire?

They are RTSs in space so they do have that in common. However there are notable differences because in Homeworld you generally fight within one arena as opposed to several systems, and you have much more granular control over your fleet (bomber formations etc) than you would have with Sins of a Solar Empire.

Homeworld 1 & 2 (and cataclysm) were great games and a third would be great!

Hopefully it will get the go ahead.

A new Homeworld game would be terrific, which reminds me I never finished Homeworld 2. I got to the mission where the baddie escapes through a portal and his minions try and blow it up after him, I couldn't fight off the waves of battle crusiers in time to stop them :(

Homeworld was far more enjoyable than Sins I thought, the combat was brilliant.

Guys on a sidenote, I have the stargate patch for HE2 but cannot get it working:mad: can anyone help me out??

Back on topic, I had homeworld 2... thought I los it, ordered it from ebay and then on the day it arrived I found my original copy:D so I won be short anytime soon!

Relly love playing HW2 and a HW3 would be just great.

Were the first two any good?

And Sins of a Solar Empire got PC game of the year on IGN....is it really that good?

Yeah - both brilliant. Really atmospheric and beautiful too.

And yes, Sins is a fantastic game. Plus a new mini-expansion is due on the 1st January.

Surprising news, things were very complex (pardon the pun..) and soured between various parties for a good while.

For the folk asking about Homeworld 2, or even those that have finished it, you can revive it by trying the following Mod:

    Homeworld 2 - Complex

    Main Site:

    http://www.homeworld2complex.com/

Gallery: (jump to this for a quick idea..) http://www.homeworld2complex.com/gallery.htm

The above will steal plenty of your time..

Yeah heard it was a bit messy, it's the main reason there was no expansion packs or why it took so long for a 3rd.

Ahh, I wish Vista was more friendly to my Homeworld 2 patch (I own the game but I just hate putting in CDs all the time)

That HW Complex looks sweet, might try it again.

Games take ages, the upgrade path is almost fetish like.. The AI is cruel too, using sniping ships to armor pierce the Mothership etc (RIP)..

Setting up mining on asteroids, making sure you have enough ships to transfer freshly trained crews to their ships, accomodation for training crews.. several types of science and tech labs to build, several types of mobile power generation. A fiddler's delight.

That all sounds so... incredibly... annoying. I like depth, not micromanagement. Each to their own!
