Hi all, here are a couple of shots from the weekend. I would be interested in your opinion. Cheers

    Love it.

I have long thought that the cement factory is worthy of a night shot!

    Well done!

Love them both. I was driving past the second one last week and said to hubbie I wanted to take a pic of it. I couldnt get ut of the car though, it was too cold and I was dressed for a night out.

I'd prob have been put to shame as these are great shots, I love the curved light trails also in Number 1.

I love both Loco, where did you stand for the first shot? Is it on junction 9 or on the side of the M1 itself??

    both are great.
the first one is just stonking.
the second is very blade runner esque.which is a very good thing in my book.

Thanks for the comments. I went out at 11pm so the motorway would be quite! There was still people beeping at me even though I was well within the yellow line! Cabaal, do your shopping up north and you can pass it on the way!

It was on the M1 itself. After the exit into drogheda at homebase etc, there is a garda stop and then a bridge over the road. I pulled in just after the bridge so the sign would not be in the shot.

Give it 2 or 3 years we'll have a bridge just like it ;)

Considering waterford is a blue county surely they will light it up with blue lights! Although the bridge would be crossing into Cat country so some black and amber stripes would be nice!

Wow!!! Both fantastic, but for me #1 is just amazing!

i like the first better than the second - i think just because the vibrant colour in it rather than the white / black of second. Great shots eitherways. Love the tail lights of the truck / bus that passed you by - it just kinda floats there in the air.

Top class photo there. I love light streams and the way the red streams zom into the shot on a diagonal and then curve back in to the right is great visually. I like the contrast between the dark sky and then the blue and red. the smallaperture creates a nice starlight effect on the street lights too.

I also posted this on the flick page.

I must have nearly stood in the exact same spot for a day photo 5 years ago. I now only live down the road so I must venture out some night to see if I can do similar.

They're both lovely! The composition of the first one is great.

Delly, I have a few that look almost identical to yours too. I have many for all seasons for anytime of day. I live in Balbriggan so it is just up the road and I travel along it twice daily! I have some from the Luas line in Dundrum too. It is a similar bridge to this one.

They're class Loco, 1st one especially.

I read a tip somewhere that it's a good idea to remove any filters you might have on your lens (UV?) before taking this type of long exposure and also that there's not much point in going above f/11 (i.e. f/16, f/22 etc) since you're just introducing more lens distortion at those stops.

I think I took off the UV for this one, pretty sure I did.

    Great stuff,

    Hugh
