    Hi all

Myself and my partner recently had a child and i've been told i can claim on my tax for the child. I work and my partner doesn't so i'm the bread winner, anyone know if i can claim some sort of tax credits for the child ?

Haven't heard of that one, but would be interested to know if it exists.

Years ago there was talk of giving working women some allowances to go towards childcare but there was uproar so the ECS came about. That what you are thinking of maybe?

    ECS ? What's that ?

The thing i was told about i think it's if i'm making maintance payments to my partner to take care of our child i can claim extra tax credits for it.

ECS = Early childcare supplement, its the €275.00 per quarter payment up to the age of 6 (now 5.5 years since last budget).

Sorry, I have no idea about maintenance payments and any tax credits that might apply. That info significantly changes your original question. Maybe someone else has experience and can advise you. Try a search on this site:
