BOI and AIB overstaffed by 5000 people

According to IBOA Gerneral Secretary we could reduce banking employees by 5000 by merging AIB and BOI. Odd to see a union official making the case for making his members redundant, but it shows the inefficiency in Irelands banking sector. No wonder they are insuch trouble. Get it done ASAP I say.…

That article is about merging six banks into two banks.

Sure we have little enough competition as it is, I don't think this is something you realy want to see unless there is no other option.

That's not overstaffing. And creating a monopoly would not be in anyones long term interest.

I strongly doubt that another 5000 people losing their jobs is in anyones interest either.
