Several times. All fine, bar one hiccup which was sorted (to do with payments). They've a very comprehensive catalogue and do some amazing deals/sales on a frequent basis. The only downside is of course they're outside of Europe and thus you're liable for duty.

Sorry if this sounds rude, but any what?

Opsgear? Sweet f*ck all chance of finding them in a US state outside of Utah, never mind outside of the USA.

AEGs, GBBs, BDUs, Vests, Pouches, BBs, etc.? Yes. Plenty to find. Here is your starting point: clicky

There's a good few places around Europe that'll do MOLLE. Not hard to find.

Had a nighttmare with Opsgear! Would not ship to ireland without me sending all sorts of info to prove address.

    At a brief glance of google;

    Begadi
    UK-Tactical
    Zero-One
    Wolf Armouries
    Fire-Support
    Flecktarn

Out of that list, I've used UK-Tactical and Zero-One for MOLLE pouches. The ones I got off UK-Tactical are sturdy beasties (cordura 1000 material) but not the cheapest.

What you consider cheap vs. worthwhile a question that only you can answer. I have no idea of what you want.

You paid using paypal then. They looked for verification that I was a confirmed Irish customer of paypal (i.e. my delivery & billing addresses matched) as it was my first paypal transaction with them [opsgear]. It involves calling paypal and asking for a letter stating that. You then forward onto opsgear. Easy peasy. What took so long for me was confusion over what they were asking for, until I called them.

Every other time I'd used my credit card, so never encountered this issue before. Companies can't check your delivery vs. billing address information via paypal the way they can with a credit card, hence the 20-questions first time you try ordering with paypal.

    +1

Sent them all kinds of address confirmations, including - stupidly - more than enough to do a fraud or identity theft. Gave up after a solid month of emails & faxes back and forth. Cannot recommend them and will never deal with them again, despite the fact that they stocked something I really wanted.

Buy Irish, save yourself the trouble.

I tried both paying directly, and when that didn't work, with PayPal.

PayPal won't let you use Mastercard for Airsoft purchases. It may be possible with Visa. Don't know, don't care. I wasted a month of my life trying to make it happen. Never again.

Why don't people ever use phones any more? I spent a week or two bouncing mails back and forth until I rang them and said "wtf? explain x, y, z please" and they did. I then called paypal (no more email b*llocks) and said I want x & y because retailer is asking for them. Email arrived less than 10 minutes later and forwarded on to opsgear. Payment was sorted by the next day.

Paypal not allowing you use mastercard isn't opsgear's fault; that's paypal's fault. Anyway, I've used Visa & Paypal and placed at least four orders with opsgear (over the space of a year and a half) and only once had a payment issue (paypal).

Sorry is that just for that website?

I don't know. Opsgear take payment by PayPal, but when I tried to make payment that way, Paypal said that I can't use a Mastercard for purchases of Airsoft-related items. I don't recall the exact wording.

I don't know whether that's a PayPal Ireland thing, or a Global one. I have the impression that the policy is originating from Mastercard, but I could be wrong. PayPal works for some people, maybe they're using Visa.

Opsgear are highly rated by many users. They didn't work for me and I'm still pissed about wasting a month trying to pay for stuff.

    YMMV. Good luck.

Strange that, i've never encountered any problems using my mastercard in an airsoft transaction, with or without paypal. I might look into that!

I've used my Mastercard to buy airsoft stuff.
It's possible Mastercard in the US have a rule against it, or maybe it's a worldwide rule and few enforce it. Or are even aware of it.

Yes, so have I, in many countries, including the US. Before and since. I've used Paypal since 2001.

In this case, Opsgear kept saying that Mastercard wouldn't verify my address and then Paypal and/or Mastercard wouldn't let me pay them that way either. It's just too much wasted time. It takes an awful lot to make me give up when I want something (and if anything, that's a self-criticism). I should have told them to Foxtrot Oscar instead of spending weeks trying to jump through hoops.

Anyway, my advice is: if Opsgear works for you, great. If not, give up immediately, don't waste time trying to sort it out, buy from somewhere else.

PS: I'm glad it worked for Lemming. Maybe if they'd explained what they wanted better, and done it when I placed the order and not weeks later we might have worked it out. And maybe if bloody PayPal would stop describing my address as "UNCONFIRMED" in every email, despite the fact that it actually is confirmed on their systems. Maybe I'll try again some day. Maybe Hell will freeze over.

    Ah right.

Sorry Oz, I mis-read what you were saying. I thought you were saying the sale was refused on account of what you were buying.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,997 ✭✭✭jaggeh

I have spent a great deal of cash on opsgear and couldnt reccomend it highly enough. Then again i didnt use paypal but direct CC purchase as they accept foreign cards.

every order i have placed has been delivered to my door within 9 days (scope took 9 days cos of a stop off in laois or something)

and ill be buying more stuff off them shortly too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,045 ✭✭✭OzCam

OK, glad it works for you. Maybe I'll phone Mastercard some day and get my shipping address sorted. I did try that before, and they told me there was "no problem". Yeah, right.

Just to be clear on my previous comments, the payment problem was down to Mastercard. The issue I had with Opsgear was that it took them 4 or 5 weeks IIRC to tell me about it, then kept asking for more and more proof, including me faxing them documents I really really should not have. And they still wouldn't ship the order.

Opsgear's stock is excellent, especially for Multicam. Perhaps they're worth another chance some day.

I pretty much have everything I need for the moment (stayed up until 01:00 this morning ordering AusCam gear for Berget  ).

    Wot, no Farscape?
