Where to buy a grinder?

    Hi all,

I just came across this coffee community on boards recently - it's great to see so many coffee enthusiasts in Ireland! :)

I recently picked up a gaggia classic, and am now looking to get myself a suitable grinder to go with it. I've been searching around a bit, but can't find anywhere in Ireland that has a good selection of grinders? I know BT and Arnotts sell a few - but other than the gaggia MDF, their stock seems to be all/mostly cheap mill grinders.

I was checking out mail order as an option, looking at the Iberital MC2 in particular (happydonkey sells them for 117pounds + P&P). However, judging by the size and weight of grinders I imagine the shipping is gonna be quite dear!

Is there a second hand market in Ireland for grinders and such? I guess when some people here upgrade their equipment they might sell off their older stuff?

Would I be best to just order the MC2 off happydonkey- or is there any other shops I should consider? (or should i consider a different grinder than the MC2 that's within the same price range?)

Any tips/advice would be much appreciated! :)

    Thanks a mil!

According to reports here the MC2 is a fine grinder. I have the Ascaso I2 which I rate highly and I think it's around the same price.

You'll do well to get value on a grinder here in Ireland; mail order is realistically the way to go. Happy Donkey regularly gets good reports. www.espressocoffeeshop.com has keen prices and reasonable delivery rates.

hey tony. In that price-range I know of nothing at the MC2 standard. Bear in mind though that adjusting between a french press and an espresso grind for example would be hugely inconvenient and time consuming on that grinder.

    Thanks for the fast replies!

I think I'll go ahead and order the MC2!

Will post some contributions to the coffee porn thread in the near future ;)
