Was thinking of getting a pair of New Rock Boots for Christmas. Does anybody have any opinions or experience of them? Cud they be worn with jeans and stuff?

I've got the ones with the purple flames, got them in a sale last year, 185e down to 65e, so don't think they won't come down in price along with everything else! I tuck my skinny jeans into them and also wear them with bootcut jeans as well. They look great with skirts too!

Horrible things. Why not get a pair of Doc Martens?

    Because he/she wants New Rocks?

I'd much prefer New Rocks as they're more cutting edge and would catch your eye. The large soles would also give my height a boost:) I think they might look nice under a pair of jeans.

    New rocks are hot!!!
they look best with skinny jeans tucked into them!
    They're quite heavy though!!
I think i prefere doc martians, they look simpler!

I've got a pair that I bought back in 2001, and they're still going strong. I think if there was a nuclear holocaust, they's survive. One of the best items of footwear I have ever purchased.

They certainly can be worn with jeans, as so:

Also, what would be the general public opinion on them? It's hard to find them in the shops, and then usually people associated with heavy metal seem to have them. Would you feel conscious wearing them?

Does the public opinion really matter if you like them? I wouldn't really mind what the public opinion was on something is, if I liked it, that's all the reason I'd need. The only question you really need to ask is if you personally like them or not, anything else just isn't relevant.

Well, I did see some in Zerep in Dublin recently. Good selection as well.

No more than any other pair of shoes or boots.

My ex boyfriend wore 'em all the time! He had 'em for years too so they seem to last forever!!

He also wore 'em with jeans, looked good actually!

As far as I remember, he liked Zerep off of Liffey St. (will have to look into that though, not sure) so I think you can get 'em there.

Liked them a few years back but find them a bit cliched and tacky now to be honest. There are lots of great boot makers out there. Everyone just seems to default to New Rock though. Tis a bit boring.

But I guess if you like them then there's no point arguing with you ;) Zerep seems to be the way to go. Or if you want a really big selection, head over to Camden in London.

Best to be worn with two pairs of socks to avoid discomfort !

Are they very heavy? From the pictures they look so, anyway. I wonder, do they add much to your height?

General public opinion? Well people do tend to stare at your feet a bit when you wear them! :p

You really shouldn't care what the general public think but since you asked I'll give you my personal opinion. I think they look absolutely ridiculous, as if they're trying to make a statement by just being so over the top stupid. They're way too big and draw too much attention to themselves, footwear should complete an outfit not define it.

I also associate them with leather wearing rockers with those stupid knee length black coats. Not to mention that odd bunch who always hangs around central bank.

And to the person who suggested wearing skinny jeans with them? What? I'd probably chuckle to myself if I ever had the misfortune of seeing that.

When I first got my pair, there was a seam near where my heel was that'd cause some irritation, and it got worse as it started to wear. I brought them into a shoe repair place, and they put like a leather patch around the area where it was rubbing against my heel. From then on I've never had a second of discomfort from the boots at all, and wouldn't give a seconds thought to wearing them for long periods like at festivals and holidays. I've had more discomfort lately from a pair of runners.

Heavier than your average boot, yeah, but when you're walking around you don't really notice it at all. Yeah, they add a good inch or so to your height.
