I have a co-axil cable running through my attic from the junction box under the gutter for my BB with UPC as the modem is in our bedroom, Id like to know if I could tap off this cable at one point and use a metal sheilded splitter to use for TV points in 3 bedrooms without affecting the quality of my BB signal?

Yes you will affect the BB signal, maybe to the point that it will stop working.
