Seeing as how I've just announced my travel intentions to half the world on one area of boards, I might as well announce them to the other half over here :)

I'll be driving from Dublin to Belfast during the week, back again on the same day. I'll be the actual driver, and don't want to make too many detours or stops, as I'm heading up to collect something and come back down, but are there any "must stop" places for photographs along the way?

Oh, and another thing - on the offchance that I decide to go into Belfast itself, what was the name of that camera shop that people were recommending there?

DL Kirkpatrick is also very competitive.

As for photo ops - the long line of (southern) shoppers waiting on the hill down to Newry.

You could pop into Banbridge or Hillsborough along the way.

Be careful in Lisburn as some "installations" are still a no go area for snappers :D

The Boyne suspension bridge at Drogheda is nice for some night shots if you are travelling in the dark. I like Banbridge too with the bridge over the road. If by any chance you are like the rest of the Irish population and going to Ikea, you can get some great shots of planes going in and out of the George Best airport! I travel that road every day and if you can manage to be on it in the morning when the sun is coming up (7:30 to 8:00) you can be lucky and get some fantastic sunrise shots to the east. Sunrise and sunset is fantastic along a little canal that goes under the Suspension bridge. Follow the road for Navan and follow the signs for the battle of the boyne center. Go past the entrance and the canal is all along the left hand side. Go up to where there is a row of cottages and it is a fantastic site with the canal, reeds and the bridge and river in the background. It is about 3 mins off the motorway. You also have Melifont Abbey and Monasterboice about 10 mins off the same junction. When you are going by Newry and at the fiveways roundabout (where mac Donalds is) take the first exit. About 5 miles out that road is a village. It is a traditional loyalist area with the red and white flags and some wall paintings. Loads of ideas there!

I was also tired (what were we all doing up at that hour?) and had meant to type more than just the link :)
