Haven't been keeping up with Daisies, never saw DSM, but I really like Eli Stone. Chalk another one up for the fickle American viewing public....

Not officially cancelled, just not being picked up for a back 9 (so technically unless another network wants to take them on or ABC have a change in heart, they're dead in the water).

    *sigh*

Booo! I'm watching both "Pushing Daisies" and "Eli Stone" and enjoying them. The writer's strike last year really crippled these shows, especially the likes of "Pushing Daisies" which started out well with audiences but its enforced 9 month break must've killed it.

Was just about to post this alright. My thoughts on each..

Dirty Sexy Money was a glorified soap opera and I'm glad it's being axed.. the pilot has some elements of something exciting but soon turned into a weekly 'Days Of Our Lives' with better acting.. but an increasing diluted storyline. Look on the bright side.. at least Peter Krause might get a better role out of it! :)

I will admit I loved Pushing Daisies for the first year but haven't seen an episode this season in a few weeks.. last one I saw that the
    bees episode with French Stewart
but apparently it hasn't been quite as good this year. This was always a show I somewhat expected to be axed from the start.. and was shocked when it wasn't throughout the first season. No great suprise now though!

Eli Stone was worthwhile though alright.. while it started quite poor, it became quite a wonderful little show in the latter half of season 1. Jonny Lee Miller is fantastic in it - I will admit I haven't seen the last 2 episodes but the musical set pieces seem to be a lot less frequent this year. Still, it was a very good show!

Still sad to see Eli Stone and Pushing Daisies go.. they were 2 of the more inventive shows on US TV.

Krause and Sutherland were my only reasons for watching it! Like you said, a glorified soap.

Once again the hazzards of following a US show picked up for broadcast while still on its first run.

Ah hell. I've been hearing varying reports of Pushing Daisies demise for some time now, but I just didnt want to believe it. I've been loving the new series so far and feel they are only just now beginning to explore the characters a little. If you look at its total episode run, its barely been given a full season of episodes from the start. Very unhappy news :(

Dirty Sexy Money on the other hand, I didnt really care for. I watched all of the first season, but it was very wishy-washy.

I've never watched Eli Stone though, has it even been shown over here before? Is it worth picking up on R1 dvd or getting from our american cousins?

Me too. Though in fairness this season hasn't really been as good as Season 1.

Thanks mike65, but I'm afraid I'm one of the poor folk with just the bog standard tv channels to choose from! :pac: I might pick up the first season from DVD Pacific, as it looks pretty cheap :)

****e - i thought eli stone was okish but didnt follow

pushing dasies i didnt see the last episode of season 1 or any of season 2 but actually started watching last weekend and im pissed off its cancelled,

i dont have the links handy but if anyone wants a good laugh go to www.tv.com then lick on "best of 2008" and see the way the votes went off hand i can remember 72% voted for supernatrel 22% for atlantis and only 5% for BSG (cant remember the 4th show)

and any poll with lost got 85%+ of the vote regardless of what was voted against it like house (6%)

Aint that the truth. Last night's post-midnight Rte Schedules :

    Rte 1 : Medium (Repeat) & NCIS
Rte 2 : Phoenix Nights (R), The Loop, Eli Stone, Psych & CSI (R)

Compare that with Sunday's Prime time of Colm & Jim "Jim" 's Home Run & Ballet Chancers or the Monday night avalanche of diarrhoea that contains such gems as that J1 thing, Katherine Lynch, Podge and Rodge & Langerland (The inclusion of Langerland actually means that Mad Men doesn't start until after midnight on a Monday...) and you have to wonder what results a drugs test in Montrose's scheduling department might throw up...

On the other side of the coin, you get the people who complain when RTE buy stuff in from abroad, and don't produce any original programming...

    I know, I know...

I'm really disappointed to see Pushing Daises getting cancelled. I loved the first season, so sweet and funny. :(

Oh well, at least I've got season 2 to look forward to.
